I know I said that Escher one was going to be submitted for the senior shirt, but as the time neared to submit them, I didn't like it as much as when I had first come up with the concept. This new one is playing off of the fact that the same people, both in the AP level art classes this year, always submit and win the t shirt design vote. I also added Tavares with the red communist hat because this year he joined in with a Warhol design of the class president wearing a communist hat. However, he decided not to submit in order to keep out of trouble and I had to use a version I did without it. The big '07 checked off goes on the back of the shirt.
What really surprises me is what I lost to. Last year's winner was Devin Rochfords. It was a buffalo uside-down over a trampoline. That was it. Everyone thought it was hilarious, including me, in how little it had to do with anything, and he had pretty much no competition. Five or six designs were his and there may have been a couple of others from outside the ring of "usual artists". Anyway, this year the new shirt design was made by Annie Keithline. It was buffalo and a trampoline. This time the upside-down one was bouncing over a wall with our grad year on it and three others with all the other class graduation years on them. I don't mean to sound like a sore loser, but how could I lose to the buffalo? I had gotten only good reactions from people beforehand about mine and this new buffalo idea was already on shaky ground. The first one made no sense, and won because it looked better than all of his others and people got a kick out of it. I was also told that the original drawing was supposed to be a UFO beaming up the buffalo, but it wasn't working out, so he flipped it over and made it a trampoline. Based on this, I am a bit surprised that Annie would have used it again. She does have a lot of artistic talent, so why keep running with someone else's idea, especially when it seems like not too much effort was put into it?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
